Reflections from the 42 Ideals of Maat . Number 8 " I Regard All Altars With Respect"

"There are many forms of Altars, all very different from each other. They denote a form of spirituality that is worshipped by the ones who created them. Some have a God form, some have anthropomorphic figures, some are Goddess altars. they are meaningful to those who created them and none may be scoffed at for all have merit. They are made to bring a certain vibration that will elevate the mind and the spirit. An altar may be anything that is placed with reverence on a surface to be worshipped. Typically there are candles, flowers, incense, holy water from sacred places, crystals, and most often a central sculptural figure of the exalted one.  A beautiful cloth should cover the altar and other objects may be placed on the altar as well as photographs of loved ones. "

Mana's Musings... on the 42 Ideals of Maat.

Lately, I have been giving a whole lot of thought to the length of time I have been with the Fellowship of Isis and the Temple of Isis and even Isis Oasis Sanctuary. I came to Isis Oasis twenty seven years ago, directly from serving as a Brahman Priestess for a Vedanta Society for several years. I was trained in Sanscript and Puja. I did Pujari work for many Gods and Goddesses. I have seen how these societies and temples slowly dissolved as the founders and matriarchs leave their bodies after long reigns of instruction and devotion and fostering each of us to grow deeply in our spiritual consciousness. Whether it be the Vedantists, the pagans the Isians.. all of the foundations I once was deeply and daily involved with are slowly composting into what ever that next step needs to be. I find it ironic that this has happened at about ten-year intervals. Interesting.
Institutions got hit hard over the last 15 or 20 years. Perhaps structure does to some degree need change. I have found with my own relationship to indigenous studies that when culture dies it is due to the language getting lost. The Language dies when the teachings, the stories and the writings are not preserved in their original format.

 I have seen so many sacred writings try to be re written or re "edited". Funny enough when our teachers were alive these same writings were sacred and not to be tampered with. After they leave their bodies.. the teachings slowly get contaminated. Aside from a few societies who have taken enormous care not to allow this to happen.

My life without my sacred writings and teachings would be nothing.
When I read from these Ideals or the Scrolls or the Vedanta .. I feel alive again. Nothing can harm me and nothing can interfere with this spiritual pastime of engaging in reading in the past times of the Divine.
I honor many altars. I do this just as I believe the Mother the Great Goddess of 10,000 names would do.
Sincerity is the most beautiful aspect of altars. 

The sincerity of the disciples to keep each other enlivened and respected and cherished. 

Spirituality is not a marathon. It is not a contest, and it is not something complicated either.

Respect and integrity are old and easy and spelled out fairly clear. Preserve the original teachings 

Spirit is there. It will always be there. The essence with always be there.
Waiting for us to take a deep sighs .. take in the Grace and exhale the love.

The is the reason we do this.
The is the reason we are here.

Hail Isis, Mother of 10,000 Names. Isis Auset! Great Mother of the Nile. I honor you.
In and through all your loving forms.
Protect us and teach us to love and cherish the exaltations we make tonight.

In whatever tongue our sincere prayers come from your private temple in each of our hearts. 

Hail and behold! For the love of Isis is the breath and the blood and the body of our work.
Hail and behold. I honor all Altars with Respect

If you can not say something nice. Don't say it at all.
Always leave from where you have been better than how you found it.
Make your love the beauty of your own altar and your perfect devotion the altar cloth to cover it. 

May your heart be full and your vision guided by the eternal sunshine inside the temple of your heart.
